“Controversy Surrounding “Eternals”: Gay Scenes Lead to Ban in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar.”

According to recent reports, the release of ‘Eternals’ has been halted in countries near the Persian Gulf due to a gay scene featuring characters Phastos and Ben. Some nations have requested that Disney and Marvel remove the kissing scene before it is released. Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia also canceled the screening of Pixar’s ‘Onward’ in 2020 because it mentioned a lesbian relationship. Despite this ban on on-screen gay scenes, the UAE is continuing with its scheduled movie screenings.

The storyline of Eternals centers on a group of beings with the same name in the Marvel cinematic universe. They arrived on Earth centuries ago and assisted humans in constructing remarkable structures. However, they cannot interfere in human battles except when it comes to fighting against the Deviants, a group that has been their enemy for ages.

Come November, cinemas are set to screen a new star-studded film featuring A-listers like Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek and Gemma Chan. The movie is being helmed by Chloe Zhao, who recently bagged two Oscars for Best Director and Best Film for her work on “Nomadland”.
